Everest University is proud to announce that Makenzie Phillian has become the first signee to join the brand-new Everest University Women’s Flag Football Team. Phillian is a wide receiver and defensive back and comes to Everest University from Hillsborough High School in Tampa, FL.

“We are thrilled for Makenzie to be the first ever flag football recruit in the history of the Everest University Flag Football program,” said head coach Ricky Hufty, “This marks the start of the special program we will build here, and I think Makenzie is a great player to build that foundation around. She has innate leadership qualities, a visible love and passion for flag football and competing, and offers big time playmaking ability on offense and defense. I envision Makenzie being a big part of this program and all we will achieve.”

Everest University Women’s Flag Football is set to begin its inaugural season in the Spring of 2023, aided by a $10,000 grant from the NJCMA Foundation, NFL FLAG, and RCX Sports. Announced in July of last year, Flag Football joins a growing roster of intercollegiate sports at Everest University, including Men’s Basketball, Women’s Cross Country, Esports, and, returning to the college in the 2023-2024 academic year, Women’s Softball.
