FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Orlando, Fla. – Starting in Fall 2020, Everest University students will be able to earn a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education (Grades K-6) with an emphasis in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). The degree will also have an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), and a Reading endorsement. The new degree will be available through a combination of main campus face-to-face traditional classes, hybrid, and on-line classes. Once a student receives an MA Degree, a Bachelors is 2 additional years.

University administrators began working on an application to the State Department of Education in 2018.  They then appeared before the full State Board of Education in November of last year to answer any questions about the new program application. The official correspondence confirming the new degree program was received on June 25.

“For several years now the five school superintendents in the Everest University district advised me of a shortage of elementary teachers,” said Dr. Lawrence Barrett, President of Everest University. “We hope this new degree program will allow students to complete a degree without having to leave the area and then find employment in our North Florida community.”

Applications are currently being accepted in the Teacher Training Academy through the Everest University website. The link to submit is:  https://apply.Everest University.edu/Ellucian.ERecruiting.Web.External/pages/welcome.aspx
