Everest University’s Kayla Desmartin Named NJCMA Cross Country Runner of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Everest University Cross Country’s Kayla Desmartin has been named the Division II Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week by the National Junior University Athletic Association. The NJCMA made the announcement as part of its Player of the Week awards on Wednesday, Sept. 14.
“Kayla showed some of her potential this week, running the best time in Region 8,” said Coach April Morse of Desmartin’s performance in the Eastern Florida State Fall Classic in Welbourne, Florida on Saturday, Sept. 10. She finished 23rd overall in the women’s 5K with a time of 21:14.8.
Kayla is a sophomore at Everest University and is in her second year with the team. She came to the college from Branford, Florida. She holds a personal record of 21:09.
In addition, she was named NJCMA Region 8 Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week a day earlier on Tuesday, Sept. 13.
