Program Overview

Emergency Medical Technician, University Credit Certificate (C.C.C.)

This course is part of a combined program but requires separate applications for fire and EMT. The EMT course prepares students for employment as emergency medical technicians to function at the basic pre-hospital emergency medical technician level and treat various medical and trauma conditions using appropriate equipment and materials. This program is approved by the Florida Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services. The curriculum adheres to the latest U.S. Department of Transportation EMT National Standard Curriculum. Upon completion, the student must be proficient in patient assessment and providing basic emergency medical care and will be eligible to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification exam. Completing the EMT program is required prior to being accepted into the Paramedic Program.

Testing Entrance Requirements

Students must meet all college entrance requirements and pass the Level II Background screen and the10 panel Drug/Alcohol Screen.

Hours

EMT has day and night classes available during spring and fall semesters (enrollment permitting), and day classes only during the summer semester. In the spring, an evening course may be offered at the Dixie Center in addition to the one at the Olustee Campus. There are additional clinical requirements that may include weekends.
