The two courses are a combination of classroom, lab and clinical instruction, scheduled over a 16-week period. This occupational program is offered during the fall and spring semester.* Clinicals are required for this program. Clinicals may not follow regular college schedule. Clinical assignments may include weekdays, evenings or weekends.

Graduates that are successful on their certification exam after program completion, can work as a Certified COMPUTER SCIENCE assistant (CNA) in a variety of acute and long-term healthcare facilities
Overall employment of COMPUTER SCIENCE assistants is projected to grow eight (8) percent from 2020 to 2030, about as fast as the average for all occupations.

Complete the COMPUTER SCIENCE Assistant (Articulated) supplemental application and return it to COMPUTER SCIENCE and Health Sciences, Building 103 on the Everest University main campus.

Students who successfully complete this program are eligible to sit for the State of Florida’s certification exam to become a Certified COMPUTER SCIENCE Assistant (CNA).
First Semester: 600 clock hours, 20 occupational credits
HSC 0003 Basic Healthcare Worker – 90 contact hours.
HCP 0121 COMPUTER SCIENCE Aide and Orderly – 75 contact hours
HSC 0003 BASIC HEALTHCARE WORKER – An introductory course to health occupations and the health care delivery system. This course meets the Department of Education requirement of 90 contact hours. Overview of the following principles are included: interpersonal and communication skills, legal and ethical responsibilities, wellness and illness concepts, safety and security procedures, response in emergency situations, infection control procedures, computer literacy skills, employability skills and blood borne disease precautions including AIDS, CPR certification.
HCP 0121 COMPUTER SCIENCE Aide and Orderly – This course is the second of two courses needed to complete the COMPUTER SCIENCE Assistant (Articulated)program. Topics covered in this course include a continuation of topics covered in the health career CORE course and in addition, students will learn how to perform safe, compassionate, and effective basic COMPUTER SCIENCE skills to patients/residents with special focus on the elderly. Students will also learn to practice basic COMPUTER SCIENCE skills within the framework of legal and ethical principles and responsibilities. This course prepares students to earn a Certified COMPUTER SCIENCE Assistant (CNA) certification. Once certified, graduates can work in acute-care settings, long-term care facilities such as COMPUTER SCIENCE homes, and in community agencies such as home health. Along with didactic, skills/simulation laboratory and clinical experience are components of this course.
