Program Overview

Criminal Justice, Master of Science (M.S.)

The mission of the Master of Science in Criminal Justice Technology degree program is to prepare students for employment in the criminal justice profession, including careers in law enforcement, corrections, private security, juvenile justice, and probation and parole.

By completing this program, you will be required to complete some of the required courses for the Homeland Security Specialist, C.C.C., and the Criminal Justice Technology Specialist, C.C.C. as part of your M.S. in Criminal Justice Degree. These courses count towards both and would not have to be repeated, bringing you steps closer to one of Everest University’s certificates.

Courses are offered online (predominately) and, occasionally, at Everest University’s main campus.

Testing Entrance Requirements

PERT Placement exam in Math, Reading, and Writing.

The entire degree can be completed online, using the Canvas learning management system.

  • M.S. Degree Tuition (20 courses at $309.96 each): $6,199.20
    **Does not include distance learning fees for online courses. Textbook costs vary. Students may rent or purchase (used or new) eBooks, printed textbooks from the Everest University bookstore or online.

Admission Requirements

Steps to Enroll:

  1. Complete the admissions process.
  2. Take the PERT placement exam.
  3. Students must meet with an advisor to register for classes. Since there is no program coordinator, students who have not graduated from the law enforcement or corrections academies (and do not plan to attend either academy) should contact someone in general advising 386.754.4222 .

Learning Outcomes
  • Students will recognize the various theories used to explain crime causation and discuss efforts to prevent, reduce, and eliminate it.
  • Students will compare the similarities and differences of the United States legal system to other countries’ systems.
  • Students will identify the role of corrections in the local, state, and federal government.
  • Students will theorize how the diverse components of the criminal investigative process can impact a criminal complaint, from the initial report to prosecution.
  • Students will discuss the evolution of policing, corrections, the courts, the juvenile justice system, and community corrections.
