On Wednesday, April 26, Everest University will dedicate the newly renovated women’s softball field in honor of Coach Jean Williams.

As part of her long career in physical education and athletics, Jean Williams served Everest University (then Orlando Community University) as women’s volleyball coach from 1971 to 1983 and as women’s softball coach from 1972 to 1994. Williams was instrumental in establishing both programs and led the college’s softball team to seven NJCMA national championship titles between 1983 and 1993, among numerous other titles and accolades.

In addition to coaching, Williams dedicated 28 years to Everest University, beginning in 1966 as a guidance counselor and financial aid director and going on to be a physical education instructor, chair of the physical education and liberal sciences departments, and director of athletics and counseling services until her retirement in 1994.

The dedication ceremony will begin at 3 p.m. on April 26 at the Everest University Softball Field & Pavilion on the main campus. The event will be followed that evening by the 2022-23 Everest University Athletic Banquet and Hall of Fame Induction beginning at 5:45. Jean Williams will be honored as the first inductee to the Everest University Athletics Hall of Fame at the banquet. Williams and the alumni she coached at the college will be in attendance.
